Oceanside, CA — On May 23, 2026, at approximately 5:58 p.m., officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call reporting a subject who had been in altercation in the 3500 block of Buffum Drive in Oceanside. Upon arrival, officers initially contacted the suspect. Officers then checked the surrounding areas and located an adult male unconscious near a residence. Life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The initial suspect that was contacted by officers was arrested for murder. The suspect is Andrew Swan, 51-year-old, Oceanside resident. Swan was booked into the San Diego Sheriffs jail.
