How do you celebrate a one-year anniversary? James Coffee Company on Main Street in Downtown Historic Vista celebrated with a Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony hosted by the Vista Chamber of Commerce. The event took place on Tuesday morning with a number of Chamber members, City officials, representatives from government agencies, and James Coffee lovers gathering to take part in the ceremony. James Coffee began in 2013 in Poway in a metal shop run by brothers David and Jacob Kennedy. Along with David’s wife Carina, James’s coffee has grown to five popular coffee shops in San Diego County. Located in Escondido, Bankers Hill, North Park, Rancho Carmel/Sabre Springs, and Vista, and soon to reopen in Little Italy. One year ago, James Coffee took over Archers Coffee in Downtown Historic Vista. David Kennedy was in attendance for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony along with wife Carina and daughter Joise.
The ceremony began with Vista Chamber of Commerce CEO Rachel Beld welcoming those in attendance and congratulating the Kennedys on the success of the James Coffee shops. The name comes from David and Jacob’s father’s first name. She introduced David, who spoke about the early struggles of getting the coffee shops started. He said they are excited about being in Vista and the welcome they have received. Several governmental representatives were in attendance to present proclamations to the Kennedys. Representatives from Senator Catherine Blaskespeare’s Office and Congressman Mike Levin’s Office presented proclamations. Those in attendance then gathered in front of the entrance to the James Coffee Vista location and, along with daughter Josie, took part in cutting the Red Ribbon honoring the first year of business in Vista.
