Our August 18th workshop was another rewarding Peer-to-Peer critique writing session, facilitated by Professor Randy Davis. Garry Garretson, Steve Conley, and Lisa Kelley each shared stories for critique, and all three welcomed the feedback and appreciated the opportunity to consider suggested edits. Lisa’s piece, “I Was Seven,” was read aloud by her friend Carol Knott. We also enjoyed readings from our regular members and were glad to have new writers join us!

If you’d like to read and critique a piece from Gary Seiser, please reply to this email, and we will send you a copy of his piece “Whiskey Water Spirits” to print and provide feedback to Gary at our next workshop Saturday, September 19th. We look forward to your participation and welcome you anytime during 11 am to 2 pm, at 1617 Mission Avenue, Oceanside. This collaborative approach to writing and editing is what helps all of us elevate our writing, and every workshop is stronger for it.

Attention social media experts, we are looking for volunteers to help support our digital outreach. If you’re interested, please submit writing for our social media posts. Depending on the piece, we hope to feature and recognize the author on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn. If you’d like us to consider your work, reply to this email or bring it to the next workshop.

As we prepare for the next VWG book, we will consider all submissions. The earlier you submit your writing, the more time we have to provide feedback, suggest edits, and review length as we select short stories for inclusion, so don’t wait to write and read at our monthly workshops!

Thank you for your continued participation and support. We look forward to seeing you in September!

They meet every third Saturday of the month from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Veterans Association of North County in Oceanside, California
Veterans Association of North County (VANC) at 1617 Mission Avenue, Oceanside, CA 92058
