El Camino High School is celebrating a major achievement as its Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) program has been named a Naval Honor School for the second year in a row. Its outstanding performance and accomplishments during the past several years gave them this prestigious award. This designation is awarded to the top 20% of MCJROTC programs nationwide.
This recognition reflects the dedication, leadership, and hard work demonstrated by El Camino’s cadets throughout the year. From academics and leadership development to community involvement and competitive activities, the cadets have continued to represent their school with pride and commitment.
El Camino High School Principal Eileen Frazier said, “This prestigious award places us among the top MCJROTC programs in the country! This back-to-back achievement is a direct result of the immense dedication of our cadet leadership, the hard work of all participating students, and the exceptional guidance of our Senior Marine Instructor, Edmond Tomlinson, and Marine Instructor, Mark Rivers. Our cadets continuously model the values of honor, courage, and commitment, serving as exceptional representatives of our school both in the classroom and throughout the wider community. We are so proud of our MCJROTC program!!”
The Naval Honor School designation also provides an important opportunity for El Camino’s graduating seniors. With the honor, the Senior Marine Instructor may nominate up to six cadets for the U.S. Naval Academy, three cadets for the U.S. Air Force Academy, and three cadets for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
For El Camino’s cadets, this recognition represents more than an award. It highlights the leadership and perseverance they have developed through the program while opening doors to opportunities that can influence their futures long after graduation.
