SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women’s soccer team returned to the win column with a 2-1 road victory against Cal State San Bernardino in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Sunday afternoon at Premier Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED •Peterson picked up the rebound after Pigoni’s long shot went off the CSUSB keeper. Peterson then put it straight into the open net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.
•Gharibeh put the Cougars up 2-0 with a mid-high shot into the right slot after a throw in by Maass and a touch by Perry.
•After Kerveshen took a pass from Perez, she went on to beat the CSUSM keeper. Kerveshen then passed it to Campa, who found the back of the net after firing straight on at the CSUSM defender and cut the Coyotes’ deficit to 2-1 with 14 minutes left to play.
QUICK KICKS •The Cougars gained three points in the CCAA standings as they improved to 6-5-2 (5-2-1 CCAA) while the Coyotes dropped to 4-9 (3-5 CCAA).
•The Cougars ended the game with a 13-6 shot advantage.
•CSUSM’s 13 shots were its second-most in a game this season.
•CSUSB held the slight advantage in corner kicks at 3-2.
•The seven shots on goal by the Cougars were their most this season.
•CSUSM’s victory was its first on the road this season.
•Sunday’s win was the Cougars’ first-ever victory at Cal State San Bernardino.
•CSUSM is now 2-0-4 against CSUSB and has won the last two matches against the Coyotes.
