Classical Academy High School sophomore, Raj Pabari, created a company that offers free, peer-to-peer online tutoring sessions for students. His new company, TutorsForGood.com, took about two weeks to build and is his way of giving back to help students who are new to distance learning. Pabari’s goal is to create a scalable community of learners supporting one another across the world. Pabari excels in math, debate, and robotics.
TutorsForGood.com uses a voice/video call between the tutor and the student and a digital whiteboard to collaborate in real-time. The student and tutor can both write on the whiteboard so the student can actively participate and learn effectively. This set-up achieves the same effect as in-person tutoring. TutorsForGood.com offers one free tutoring session per student per week. Additional sessions are $15 an hour.
“I founded TutorsForGood.com during the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020 to help students get the academic help they need from the comfort of their homes. The mission of TutorsForGood.com is to facilitate learning by providing online peer-to-peer tutoring for everyone.” stated Pabari. “Being a charter school student, I have been immersed in various forms of distance learning for over a decade. For some, it can be difficult to adjust to learning independently without face-to-face time with friends or teachers. I want to be that friendly face that students can turn to for homework help, test prep, and other things.”
At this time there are two tutors on staff. Students or volunteers who share the vision and have an expertise or skill they are willing to pay forward can consider joining the TutorsForGood.com team by filling out the contact form on the website.
