Vista Homicide Investigation – Update

On May 23, 2020, the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded to 400 Sycamore Avenue in the city of Vista for a woman who was shot. The Homicide Unit continued to investigate and identified the person responsible for the shooting. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant forty-year-old Marvin Meyers Wight for 664-187(a) PC – Attempted Murder.

On June 4, 2020, at about 9:35 a.m., the United States Marshall’s San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail served the arrest warrant on Marvin Wight. The arrest occurred in the area of 500 Big Bend Way in the city of Oceanside.

The woman shot during the incident is thirty-four-year-old Kristina Montalvo of San Marcos. Montalvo is alive; however, she is still in the hospital and her injuries continue to be grave.

On May 23, 2020, at about 6:15 a.m., deputies assigned to the Vista Patrol Station responded to 400 Sycamore Avenue in Vista for a 911 call of a woman who had been shot. When deputies arrived, they located an adult female in a vehicle who was a victim of a gunshot wound. Vista Fire Department transported the female to a local area hospital for treatment.

The woman is still alive. However, due to the gravity of the woman’s injuries, the Sheriff’s
Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation
