On Tuesday, December 22nd just before 2:30 a.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call of a family disturbance at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Knoll Road in San Marcos. When deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. The man was transported to Palomar Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies were able to interview family members of the victim at the scene and determined he had been stabbed by his son, Saul Resendiz, Jr. (DOB: 07/03/2000). Resendiz was determined to be in the apartment at the time of the original call. He locked the door and refused to
communicate with deputies outside. The Sheriff’s Department Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) attempted to persuade Resendiz to peacefully surrender to deputies at the location. However, he refused to comply.
Just before 8:00 a.m., deputies from the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED)/SWAT made entry into the apartment and successful took Resendiz into custody.
Resendiz was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for attempted murder.
