CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos’ Kassy Doering’s high-efficiency offense and defensive play at the net led the Cougars to a conference-sweep in their opening weekend. For her achievements, Doering was selected as CSUSM’s first-ever CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week (Sept. 12-19) in program history.

Doering crushed 27 kills in two matches with a hitting percentage of .533 to lead CSUSM to the two victories, including a thrilling come-from-behind win over a previously unbeaten San Francisco State team on Saturday.

The senior middle blocker from Austin, Texas, also had nine total blocks with four solo blocks in the two contests.

Against Cal State Monterey Bay, Doering had 10 kills on 17 attempts without an error (.588) with five total blocks (two solo). With CSUSM trailing 2-0 versus the Gators on Saturday, Doering rallied her team back to a five-set win with 17 kills (17-3-28, .500) and four blocks.
