Poker Tournament Raised Funds to Support Boys & Girls Club of Vista Music Program

Vista, California, August 29, 2022 – The Boys & Girls Club of Vista hosted its 4th Annual Rock & Roll Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament on Saturday, August 27th at the Vistonian in downtown Vista. The event brought in $20,000 in support of the Clubs music programs with daily classes. This year’s event was won by Scott Patterson of Edward Jones in Vista. The most exciting part of the event were the Music Maniacs, who opened with a spirited performance of Blitzkreig Bop and Seven Nation Army. These dedicated 4th – 7th grade Club members formed their own band and have been practicing together for a year at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista.

The music room is one of the most popular program areas at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista. Club members sign up to take small group lessons in guitar, keyboard, percussion and vocals. Once the Club members progress in their lessons, they begin forming ensembles or rock bands and have the ability to record their music. “Only 20% of kids nationwide have regular access to music and arts programs. Without our Club music program, many of our Club members would not learn music and enjoy its many benefits in life. “Music helps people overcome so many obstacles in life. We are providing a fun and safe opportunity for all children to experience music in a supportive environment that is not cost prohibitive,” stated Matt Koumaras, President & CEO.
