It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors of Lifeline Community Services announces an exciting new chapter in our organization. We are delighted to introduce Lisette Islas as our new CEO, set to assume her role on January 9, 2024.

Lisette, a distinguished leader in community and economic development, brings over twenty-five years of experience and a proven track record of innovative strategies dedicated to uplifting individuals, families, and communities. Her extensive background, highlighted by her role as the Executive Vice-President and Chief Impact Officer at MAAC, positions her as an invaluable asset to Lifeline.

During Lisette’s tenure at MAAC, she demonstrated a profound commitment to advancing the economic and social strength of the San Diego region, while focusing deeply on economic inclusion and mobility, housing affordability, and access to quality early care and education. As Board President, I had the privilege of serving on the search committee that meticulously vetted hundreds of applicants across California. We are thrilled to welcome Lisette and are confident that her vision, combined with the dedication of our staff and the support of our community, will propel Lifeline to new heights.

As we usher in this new era, we extend our deepest gratitude to Don Stump for his exemplary leadership over 16 years. During Don’s tenure, Lifeline flourished into a vital community resource, impacting the lives of over 25,000 individuals annually. We wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement.

“I am pleased to pass the baton to Lifeline’s new CEO, Lisette Islas,” said Don Stump. “I have full confidence in Lisette to carry our culture and commitment to responding to emerging needs and serving the community with the highest integrity. She understands the mission and has the skills and relationships to lead Lifeline into the future, making an even greater impact throughout San Diego County.”

Lisette shares her enthusiasm, stating, “I am very excited to be joining the Lifeline family. I have deep respect for the depth and breadth of services Lifeline offers. Its impact over the past 50 years is commendable and I am eager to contribute to its legacy. I look forward to building on the traditions of collaboration, responsiveness, creativity, and trust. Together, we will continue to empower individuals, strengthen families, and make a lasting impact in our community.”

Lifeline Community Services’ mission is to build self-reliance among youth, adults, and families through high-quality, community-based services. Lifeline was incorporated in 1973 and is rooted in the idea that everyone should have the supports, education, treatment, and care needed to thrive. Lifeline has since expanded to offer programs focusing on youth development, behavioral health, child abuse prevention, housing & self-sufficiency, and anti-human trafficking services.
