Paseo Artist Village Workshop, Gallery and Educational Space Project Now Open

By TR Robertson
In a recent interview, Artist and Educator Linda Bounds expressed her excitement for the future of the Paseo Artist Village Workshop, Gallery, and Educational Space as the dream of providing a unique working environment for the teaching, learning, production, and display of art is now underway at the residential housing development. Paseo Artist Village is an Affordable Housing Community for artists and their families. Linda has vast experience in the management of Fine Art Galleries. She has been a professional portrait painter for more than forty years and is an educator who has assisted and taught art techniques in hospitals, schools, corporations, and other facilities for more than thirty years. Currently, Linda is working with residents of all ages living in the Paseo Artist Village teaching weekly classes. They meet three times a week with around 40 individuals painting in a variety of media. The 2,200 sq. foot space provides ample room for the residents to work on personal projects and the techniques being taught. The area is alive with finished paintings on display. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced sessions are offered by appointment in the space. This non-profit project is funded by Community Housing Works.

Recently the Paseo Village Workshop and Gallery was on display as part of the Blues Pop-Up event held in four locations on Paseo Santa Fe. People attending were able to enjoy the music provided and see completed projects on display. Phase One of the Paseo Village Workshop, Gallery and Educational Space is well underway, and Linda said Phase Two would include a call to artists working in all media in Vista and beyond to show their work in the gallery. She said she believes in the Healing Power of Art and that it “brings people together, builds communities within communities and art has the potential to level the playing field and create environments where everyone thrives”. She also said she is known for her ability “to develop creative environments and engage even the most ardent non-believers”.
In 2001 Linda received the Channel 10 Leadership Award for her work with Seniors and Disabled Adults and in 2013 she was acknowledged as the KPBS Disability Awareness Month Local Hero Honoree for her “Healing HeARTS” program at Edgemoor Hospital in Santee, California.
