At about 5:50am on April 9, 2022, Juan Juarez (DOB: 01/10/1995) arrived unannounced to his ex-girlfriend’s residence in the City of Vista near N Citrus Avenue and Nevada Avenue. Juarez broke through the window, entered the residence, and tried to take his ex-girlfriend out of the residence by forcefully grabbing her arms and dragging her towards the door.
As deputies arrived, Juarez grabbed a 12″ kitchen knife, held it to his ex-girlfriend’s neck, and told her he was going to kill her. Deputies built rapport with Juarez and convinced him to release his ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend suffered a two-inch laceration to her neck. Deputies observed Juarez hold a knife to his own throat and stomach, but continued to speak with Juarez. Juarez was taken into custody without further incident after deputies convinced him to drop the knife and exit the residence.
Juan Juarez was arrested and booked into Vista Detention Facility for the following offenses:
459 – PC – BURGLARY
207 (A) – PC – KIDNAPPING
422 (A) – PC – THREATEN CRIME WITH INTENT TO TERRORIZE
273.5 (A) – PC – SPOUSAL/COHABITANT ABUSE WITH MINOR INJURY
664 /187 (A) – PC – ATTEMPTED MURDER.
