During their regularly scheduled council meeting on October 25, the City Council appointed Assistant City Manager Amanda Lee as Acting City Manager. Lee will serve in this role until a new city manager is hired in the new year. The City Council voted 5-0 to approve the appointment.

In May 2021, Lee was appointed Assistant City Manager and has served in local government for more than a decade. Lee began working for the City of Vista as the Assistant City Clerk, then transitioned to Redevelopment and Housing as a Management Analyst. In 2016, she became the City’s Housing Programs Manager, and was promoted to Assistant to the City Manager in 2019. Prior to the City of Vista, Lee worked for the State of California and the private sector.

A member of the Municipal Management Association of Southern California, Ms. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University. Lee and her husband enjoy traveling, music, and outdoor activities with their three children.

After almost 11 years as the City Manager of Vista and 24 years with the City of Vista, Patrick Johnson involuntarily resigned from his position on October 13, 2022.
