Alta Vista Botanical Gardens Honors its Volunteers

Sunday, August 8th was a special day at the Gardens. The Board of Trustees prepared and barbecued a delicious dinner in the Reception Rose Garden for their wonderful volunteers who give so much time and care to keep the Gardens running and beautiful. The dinner ran from 4 to 7 pm and included appetizers, burgers, franks, and many side as well as dessert and all types of drinks.
The event gave around 50 volunteers a chance to meet one another and the Board members. The Board wanted to thank them and show their appreciation to this group of consistent and loyal helpers.

Letters of appreciation and thanks were given out by Naomi Stein, Vice President, to five of the volunteer chairman. The following certificates were given to: Mary Murphy-Membership, Carole Lee- Adopt-a-Garden, Lois Walag- Grow Getters, Jacque Larson-Volunteer Coordinator, and Dan Dunifer- Gate Collection Coordinator.
These volunteers are the backbone of Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, a 14 acre, eclectic mix of unique plantings and themes that serve the community. The Gardens have been touted as

“The Hidden Gem of North County”.

AVBG is a nonprofit with only one paid full time employee and could not survive without all the wonderful volunteers, including the Board of Trustees.
