Carlsbad, CA – Army and Navy Academy is proud to announce that its 2024 graduating class of 56 young men has received a total of 165 college acceptances from 85 distinguished institutions, and scholarships totaling over $11 million. This year’s results underscore the Academy’s commitment to preparing young men for success in higher education and beyond.
“We are immensely proud of our senior Cadets’ achievements. Their success in securing significant scholarships and college acceptances demonstrates that our Academy’s holistic virtue-centered living and learning environment produces virtuous young men who have the intellectual, physical, and leadership capabilities that our colleges and universities seek on their campuses. I am excited to see the positive difference these young men will make in not only their lives but in the lives of others in their future endeavors,” said Major General Peggy Combs, U.S. Army (Retired), President of Army and Navy Academy.
Among the notable achievements, Ratumana Bulabalavu received 23 scholarship offers and accepted a four-year athletic scholarship to the University of Southern California; Tonton Droby received offers from 15 different schools; Nathan Bae received seven scholarship offers and committed to The University of Chicago; Cheng Lin (Evan) Kang also received seven scholarship offers and will be attending Northeastern University; and Luke Farr received seven scholarship offers and will attend University of Nevada, Reno in the fall.
“These young men worked hard on and off the field striving to be excellent athletes, students, and leaders among their peers and they’ve been rewarded for it. It’s going to be amazing to see what they do next,” said Nehemiah Brunson, Athletic Director.
Army and Navy Academy also has a proud history of supporting graduates in obtaining ROTC scholarships and this year we had five Cadets earn them. Nathan Torres secured a four-year Navy ROTC scholarship to attend USC; Tate Meyer was accepted to U.S. Military Academy, West Point but committed to Dartmouth College with a four-year ROTC scholarship; Enzo Pilcher accepted a four-year Army ROTC scholarship to attend UCLA; Otto Hoffman accepted a four-year Army ROTC scholarship to attend Iowa State University; and Caleb Stricker was offered scholarships from seven schools and accepted a four-year Army ROTC scholarship and an athletic scholarship to attend Benedictine College.
Lt Colonel Curby Scarborough, U.S. Army (Retired), Senior Army Instructor, and Director of Warrior Virtue shared, “Over the past four years, I witnessed the class of 2024 overcome numerous challenges that have propelled them to attain uncommon achievements. Many noteworthy Cadets have recognized the “call of service” and are now prepared to make a difference. These men share a genuine love for their brothers, their families, and their communities. The mantle of leadership is in good hands.“
The Academy’s academic and athletic programs, with its comprehensive Junior ROTC curriculum, have consistently enabled Cadets to excel and secure placements in prestigious colleges, universities, and service academies across the nation.
