Attempted Murder Investigation – Suspect in Custody

OCEANSIDE, CA – On March 22, 2025, at approximately 2:18 a.m., the Oceanside Police Department received a 911 call reporting an assault involving a baseball bat. Oceanside Police officers responded to the scene and discovered a 20-year-old male victim suffering from severe blunt force trauma injuries. The victim was transported to a local trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.

Detectives from the Oceanside Police Department’s Crimes of Violence (COV) Unit launched an investigation into the incident. Through their efforts, they identified 23-year-old Hunter Meyer of Escondido as the suspect. On March 24, 2025, Oceanside Police officers arrested Meyer without incident at his workplace in Escondido, and he was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
