On Wednesday January 4, 2023 just after 1:00 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department received a call about a stabbing in the 900 block of North Santa Fe Avenue in Vista.
When deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station arrived on the scene, they contacted two people who appeared to have been stabbed. Both victims told deputies their son, Jesus Armando Alcaraz (DOB: 10/22/2000), had attacked them with a knife and was still inside of their apartment. As deputies evacuated nearby residents, they saw smoke coming from the apartment.
Deputies took quick action and entered the apartment to safely take Alcaraz into custody and assist with clearing the scene for the Vista Fire Department. As deputies contacted Alcaraz, he refused to surrender. Deputies brought in a Sheriff’s K-9 to take him into custody.
Vista Firefighters were able to enter the apartment and determined the smoke was caused by paper burning on top of the stove. There was no damage to the apartment.
The stabbing victims were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The evacuated residents were able to return back to their homes.
Alcaraz was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for attempted murder.

Intento de Asesinato – Vista
Sospechoso de apuñalamiento arrestado.
El miércoles 4 de enero de 2023, poco después de la 1:00 p.m., el Departamento del Alguacil recibió una llamada sobre un apuñalamiento en la cuadra 900 de North Santa Fe Avenue en Vista.
Cuando los oficiales del Vista Sheriff’s Station llegaron a la escena, contactaron a dos personas que parecían haber sido apuñaladas. Ambas víctimas dijeron a los oficiales que su hijo, Jesús Armando Alcaraz (fecha de nacimiento: 10/22/2000), los había atacado con un cuchillo y todavía estaba dentro de su apartamento. Cuando los oficiales evacuaron a los residentes cercanos, vieron humo saliendo del apartamento.
Los oficiales del Alguacil tomaron medidas rápidas y entraron al apartamento para detener a Alcaraz de manera segura y ayudar a despejar la escena para el Departamento de Bomberos de Vista. Cuando los oficiales se pusieron en contacto con Alcaraz, se negó a rendirse. Los oficiales trajeron un perro policia del Alguacil para detenerlo.
Los Bomberos de Vista pudieron entrar al apartamento y determinaron que el humo era causado por papel quemándose encima de la estufa. No hubo daños en el apartamento.
Las víctimas apuñaladas fueron trasladadas al hospital por lesiones que no ponen en peligro la vida. Los residentes evacuados pudieron regresar a sus hogares.
Alcaraz fue ingresado en el Centro de Detención de Vista por intento de asesinato.
