CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 6, 2026) – Carlsbad Unified School District has completed the modernization of Aviara Oaks Middle School. The $30,237,032 project was completed in time for the first day of the 2026-2027 school year, welcoming students and staff back to an updated campus. Measure HH funded the project.
The centerpiece of the project is a new, ground-up administration building. It includes four upstairs classrooms and two STEAM labs for hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
The project also modernized six existing buildings, each with new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and new roofs. Campus improvements also include new landscaping and exterior paint.
“Our Aviara Oaks Middle School students and staff returned this fall to a beautifully transformed campus. The new STEAM labs, classrooms, and modernized buildings provide a modern and engaging learning and teaching environment for our students and staff. We are grateful to Carlsbad taxpayers, whose investment of Measure HH in our schools made this possible,” said Superintendent Dr. Norman.
HMC Architects designed the project, and Lusardi Construction Company served as the contractor. Construction began in December 2024.
