NORTH COUNTY — Big waves have hit the local beer industry over the past several weeks as Bagby Beer Company sold, and Ebullition Brew Works & Gastronomy closed one of its locations.
In mid-January, Oceanside-based Bagby announced it sold to Green Cheek Beer Company of Orange County. Two weeks later, Ebullition announced it closed its Bressi Ranch location in Carlsbad.
According to an announcement from Bagby on Jan. 10, the company said it struggled after the pandemic, especially with a large and complex location. Dande and Jeff Bagby said the takeover would happen sometime in the first quarter of this year, noting their 11-year lease was coming to an end and they couldn’t justify signing a five-year lease agreement.
