(Vista, CA–) In an effort to ensure that Club members are prepared for success, the Boys & Girls Club of Vista is starting CareerLaunch, a workforce development program for youth ages 11-18. The mission of Career Launch is to proactively engage teens and provide them with opportunities to strengthen their academics, explore careers, and develop the skills needed to be workforce ready and make healthy lifestyle choices. Participation in this initiative will help drive academic success for youth and uniquely position them to make a difference in the future workforce and become contributing members to society.

CareerLaunch was developed to introduce young people to the “working world.” This initiative provides a wide range of services to help Club members develop skills essential for workforce success. Additionally, it allows them the opportunity to explore various careers based on their interests and talents, and determine the corresponding educational path they would need to pursue.

According to Matt Koumaras, CEO, “CareerLaunch will provide teens with the rare opportunity during out of school time to explore job options available to them. It will help develop interests in possible careers while gaining relevant workforce readiness skills from positive mentors and businesses in Vista. This will make a big impact on our Club members and connect teens to summer employment as well as workforce success.”

CareerLaunch will be offered year-round and will be available as part of the Club’s Summer Camp program. For details or registration info, please contact Raul Castillo 760-724-6606 ext. 24 raul@bgcvista.com or click here for information on day camps.

“We’re excited to bring CareerLaunch to Vista teens. They will have access to supervised job shadowing and future internship opportunities.” said Raul Castillo, Director of Operations/Programs, “Participation will give our youth the opportunity to gain a sense of pride and confidence in themselves and to help them make good choices for their education and future jobs.”

Funding for CareerLaunch has been provided by the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund, US Bank, Pacific Premier Bank, David C. Copley Foundation, Walmart Foundation and others. Community partners supporting the Club’s initiative include the City of Vista, Watkins Wellness, Directed Electronics, Pacific Premier Bank, Peppertree Frosty and Wildwood Crossing.
