Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Hosts MiraCosta College Women’s Basketball Team

Oceanside, CA (October 26, 2023) – On Thursday, October 26, the MiraCosta College Women’s Basketball team, currently in their fall practice season, held their practice at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO). This unusual turn of events came as a result of a power outage at the college campus, leading the team to seek alternative practice facilities. In a twist of fate, several players on the team had once attended the Oceanside Clubhouse during their youth, creating an emotional reunion with their childhood clubhouse.

BGCO happily opened its doors to the team, extending the same warm welcome these players had experienced years ago. The nostalgia-filled return to the Oceanside Clubhouse stirred fond memories for the players who once frequented the facility through their youth.

MiraCosta College and the BGCO are grateful for the collaboration, with both organizations recognizing the importance of fostering a strong sense of community. This unique partnership is not only a testament to the adaptability of the MiraCosta College Women’s Basketball team but also a heartwarming story of the impact that community organizations can have on individuals’ lives.

The temporary practice arrangement is expected to continue until power is restored at the MiraCosta College campus. In the meantime, the MiraCosta College Women’s Basketball team is proud to call the BGCO their home away from home, rekindling cherished memories and nurturing the next generation of athletes. BGCO wishes the MiraCosta College Women’s Basketball team good luck in their upcoming season.
