Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Receive Qualcomm Foundation Grant for STREAMing Ahead Program
Oceanside, CA (February 2020)-Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $10,000 grant from the Qualcomm Foundation to support the STREAMing Ahead program. This grant will help encourage at risk youth to explore the world of STEM and inspire them to plan for bright futures, even in the midst of the pandemic.
Over the course of this unprecedented year, at risk youth have suffered substantial learning loss and are in dire need of additional educational enrichment. In order to meet this need, the STREAMing ahead program provides exciting opportunities in the areas of STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). This program employs a hands-on project-based approach, proven to academically benefit at risk youth. This past month, through the STREAMing Ahead program, Club members participated in a winter themedscience project, using household chemicals to make artificial snow!
