Oceanside, CA (June 13, 2024) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) is pleased to announce that it has received a $25,000 grant from The Oceanside Community Foundation to address suicide prevention efforts. As a leader in youth outreach and education, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside understand the profound impact that suicide has on families, schools, club members, staff, and the community.
This grant funding will help implement the Because You Matter Program, which is designed to build youth self-esteem and confidence through activities, mentorship, prevention education, and awareness. BGCO plans to support more than 500 youth through this program. The grant will also provide resources and education for parents and staff, equipping them to intervene and support youth facing mental health challenges.
“We are deeply grateful to The Oceanside Community Foundation. Our youth are facing a mental health crisis never seen before. This grant will allow us to help youth as they navigate their way through adolescence and ensure that they thrive and succeed in life,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
This initiative reflects the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s commitment to creating a supportive and understanding community for our youth.
