Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Receives Grant from Parker Foundation Oceanside,
CA (JUNE, 2018) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) received $12,000 in grant funding from Parker Foundation to purchase performing arts equipment for the new Center for Innovation.
The Center for Innovation, opening this fall, is a 2,000-square-foot addition, which will include a Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen, a Performing Arts Center and a STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Lab.
The Performing Arts Center will provide a dedicated space for youth to engage in music, drama, and dance programs. The center will include audio visual training to introduce and teach lighting and stage production skills. This space will give Club members a safe place for self-expression as well as the opportunity to grow their confidence through performance. It will provide a much needed stepping stone to high school performing arts programs and will provide BGCO with its own stage for future productions.
Grant funding from Parker Foundation will ensure that the Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with mirrors for dance classes, microphones for spoken word gatherings, and sound boards and audio equipment to create an in-Club recording studio.
“Many of our youth don’t have a creative outlet for the difficulties they face day to day,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO. “Thanks to Parker Foundation, our youth will have limitless opportunity to express their emotions and try various forms of performing arts.”
