Cal State San Marcos Cougars Post 3.33 GPA for Spring 2023 Semester

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos Athletics finished the 2022-23 academic year on a strong note with a Spring 2023 grade-point average of 3.33.

“I’m so proud of the academic success of our student-athletes this past spring,” CSUSM Associate Director of Athletics Todd Snedden said. “We are impressed yet again with their level of commitment and determination to achieve academic excellence in the classroom.”

CSUSM saw 30 Cougars earn the Mangrum Award by posting perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring.

Of all student-athletes, 78% recorded a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester while 51.6% had a term GPA of 3.5 or better. Cumulatively, 81% of CSUSM student-athletes had an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher following the Spring 2023 term while 44% clocked in at 3.5 or higher.

Women’s golf earned the department’s highest team GPA at 3.618 and were followed by women’s soccer at 3.607 and women’s cross country at 3.600. Volleyball, women’s track & field and men’s soccer posted their highest-ever GPAs at 3.599, 3.518 and 3.430, respectively. They were followed by men’s cross country (3.355), men’s track & field (3.277), women’s basketball (3.172), baseball (3.162) and men’s basketball (3.087).

For the entire 2022-23 academic year, CSUSM student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.314.
