Bahna Named CCAA Baseball All-Star

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Junior infielder Joseph Bahna of the Cal State San Marcos baseball team was named a CCAA Baseball All-Star by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

With the global COVID-19 pandemic suspending and subsequently ending the 2019-20 college athletics season in mid-March, it became an impossibility to properly bestow all-conference honors for spring sports. As a result, the CCAA announced the first, and hopefully last, CCAA All-Star Team, in a fun effort to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments across the league during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.

In the abbreviated season, Bahna led the team with a .353 batting average, an .841 OPS, a .417 on-base percentage and 30 hits in 85 at-bats. The Upland native ended the season on a 20-game reached-base streak, and at one time, he had a 17-game hitting streak – tying for the fifth-longest streak in program history.

Bahna had a team-best four multi-RBI games and posted eight games with multiple hits – second most on the team. He also tallied 13 runs, four doubles, one triple, 11 RBIs, 36 total bases, a .424 slugging percentage, nine walks and three stolen bases

.

The list of 28 student-athletes mirrors the dugout limit for CCAA baseball, and is not bound by specific positions around the diamond. All 12 programs were guaranteed one representative to showcase talent across the league. These standout performers were submitted for consideration by the league’s baseball sports information contacts.
