Carlsbad, CA (January 16, 2020) – In September, 2019 the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce launched its first annual Rising Star of the Month Program. Each month during the school year four to five students are nominated from Carlsbad High Schools to be honored at the Rising Star Breakfast hosted at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce offices.
The Mission Statement of the Rising Star of the Month is to bring the community together to honor our local high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. The core of the Rising Star of the Month is the student who makes a difference in their home, school & community with sincerity and passion.

Rising Star of the Month Scholarship Sponsor is the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.

All of our Rising Stars of the Month will be invited to complete a scholarship application which is administered by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce’s Partners in Education charitable foundation. A Chamber scholarship committee will judge the applications and select at least one student of the year per high school from the pool of Rising Stars. The final scholarship winners will attend the Rising Star of the Year Scholarship and Recognition breakfast on May 26, 2020. The application will be given to the students in early spring with a deadline for completion in early April. The application will request grades, school activities, community service, two short essays, two letters of recommendation and information about where the students plan to attend college.
