Carlsbad City Council- District 4 and 2 Candidate’s Video Interview

Greg Day
As a former Marine and military pilot, I am focused on getting a job accomplished. Whether flying in combat or making sure you get to your destination safely as a commercial aircraft pilot, protecting people is second nature to me.

I am running for Carlsbad City Council because I am frustrated with today’s city leadership. I want our beautiful Carlsbad preserved with the existing growth management plan, not taken over by housing demands from Sacramento legislators. I want common sense solutions to homelessness that don’t spend millions of tax dollars needlessly, only to have homelessness increase. And I want elected city leaders who work collaboratively toward what is best for Carlsbad, not worried about their next stepping stone for elected office.

In running for City Council, my mission is to lead with common sense solutions, an eye toward budgets that fit our tax revenues and working with our surrounding cities to address regional issues. My priorities will be public safety, addressing homelessness, creating a sustainable budget and ensuring Carlsbad remains the jewel of North County.

I grew up in Southern California and have lived here most of my life. I attended the University of Southern California and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering and a Master’s degree in Data Informatics.

During an internship in San Diego in 2017, I met Carolyn, the brilliant, kind, and beautiful woman who would become my wife. Over time, Carlsbad began to grow on us, and we started appreciating Carlsbad’s “small town feel” and beach vibe. Carolyn and I got married and bought our first house in Carlsbad. We look forward to one day starting a family and providing our children with a safe and loving home.

I never intended to be a politician, but without proper leadership, Carlsbad will lose what makes it a great place to live, work, and raise a family. My goal is to “Keep Carlsbad, Carlsbad” and carve a path forward with hope and courage.
