Carlsbad, California – This GivingTuesday, Carlsbad Educational Foundation will inspire generosity by celebrating the funding of over 40 programs this year, benefitting more than 11,000 students across Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD).
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 3, 2024, and throughout the year.
What does support of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation on Giving Tuesday look like in action? For the first time in over 20 years, CUSD elementary students had full-time music teachers. This access to weekly music lessons not only enhanced their skills, but also fostered a stronger sense of community— increasing both parent attendance at monthly assemblies and student confidence as they performed for peers and families. And it isn’t just music! With the community’s support, we are providing all TK-12 students with programs, materials, and experiences in art, science and career exploration to foster learning and find their passion in school.
“Creating opportunities like these is at the heart of what we do, but it’s only possible because of our incredible community that shows up to support our schools and our students each year,” said Laura Pitts, Carlsbad Educational Foundation CEO. “Together we can make a lasting impact, ensuring that every child in Carlsbad has access to enriching educational opportunities and a bright future.”
Here are some ways support can make a difference:
• $25 provides one student pottery paint brushes for the school year.
• $50 provides supplies for middle school science dissections for an entire class.
• $100 allows three students to participate in the 5th grade BizTown Field Trip, exploring career options.
• $500 purchases a new violin for a student in orchestra.
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eleven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a
neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets billions of impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”

About Carlsbad Educational Foundation
Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in 1983, to raise private support for public education and contribute to the enrichment of nearly 11,000 students in the Carlsbad Unified School District. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $16 million to Carlsbad public schools, primarily for science, technology, and music – programs that would not be possible in California’s current school funding environment. 100% of donations go directly to support the Carlsbad Unified School District because CEF’s operating expenses are covered by student enrichment programs and Kids Care, a comprehensive before and after-school TK-
5 childcare program. For more information, visit www.CarlsbadED.org.
