Carlsbad High School Inducts Three More Athletes for Wall of Fame

Three more outstanding athletes were inducted for the Athletic Wall of Fame Tuesday evening at halftime of the varsity boys’ basketball at Carlsbad High School vs Sage Creek High School. Carlsbad, ranked #1 in San Diego County for boys’ basketball, defeated Sage Creek 81-30. The three graduates selected join the twenty-seven athletes who have gone on to excel in either professional or Olympic sports after high school graduation from Carlsbad High. The three athletes selected joined CHS Athletic Director Tom Bloomquist at center court during halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game to receive the framed jerseys listing their name, number, year of graduation, and sport. The framed jerseys will be hung on the Lancer Arena wall bringing the total number of graduates that have been selected for the Athletic Wall of Fame to thirty.

Three newly selected Athletic Wall of Fame member will join the 27 hanging in CHS Lancer Arena

The three athletes joining the Athletic Wall of Fame were Alana Uriell – Class of 2014, Zachary Thomas – Class of 2016 and Cameron Thomas – Class of 2018. Alana Uriell is an LPGA golfer and graduate of the University of Arkansas. Zachery Thomas is currently an offensive lineman with the Los Angeles Rams NFL football team and a graduate of San Diego State University and brother Cameron Thomas is currently a defensive lineman with the Arizona Cardinals NFL football team and also a graduate of San Diego State University. All three, along with family members, were in attendance for the ceremony.

Tom and his wife Caroline have been North County residents for over 40 years. They have 2 sons, 2 grandchildren and many furry grandchildren. Tom taught at Carlsbad High School for over 40 years. Tom and Caroline have traveled extensively around the world.
