Carlsbad, Calif. – The City of Carlsbad Police Department joins the California Office of Traffic Safety to promote a safe and DUI-free Super Bowl weekend.
Super Bowl LV is Sunday, February 7, and the Police Department will enhance enforcement over the weekend to watch for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
California’s public health guidance advises that those who choose to watch the Super Bowl do so at home, with members of your immediate family to slow the spread of COVID-19. If you plan to drink alcohol while watching the game, please stay at home and use food delivery services if necessary.
If you choose to be out-and-about, please also choose to designate a driver or use ride share services.
The California Office of Traffic Safety reminds the public that alcohol is not the only thing that impairs driving. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana may affect your ability to drive safely. Do your research and understand how a drug affects you before deciding whether you are okay to drive.
Funding for Super Bowl enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
