Carlsbad Police ‘Serious Injury Traffic Collision’

CARLSBAD, Calif. – On August 7, at 5:45 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to the intersection of Basswood Avenue at Valley Street due to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and an electric bicycle.

On arrival, officers found a 35-year-old female electric bike cyclist injured near the intersection of Basswood Avenue and Valley Street. Traveling on the electric bicycle with the female was a 16-month-old female child. The child did not appear to be injured.

The driver of the Toyota 4-Runner, a 42-year-old female, remained at the scene.

The cyclist was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. The child was also transported as a precaution.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined. Drugs or alcohol are not considered to be a factor in the collision.

Police investigators are seeking additional witnesses to the collision.
