SAN DIEGO (Feb. 04, 2026) – Game night just got wilder with Rainforest Rumble, a jungle-themed board game created by 12-year-old Beckett Tarver. The Carlsbad-area pre-teen conceptualized the game for a third-grade assignment and has spent the last three years turning the idea into reality, with the help of his parents. Now, Rainforest Rumble is a fully developed game that is ready to be played.
“We have always encouraged Beckett to think bigger,” said Beckett’s mother, Nicole Hagaman. “At this age, there are no limitations to his creativity, so we thought ‘how can we support him and make this idea really happen?’”
Beckett first created the game as part of a school assignment, making the game board and character cards out of cardboard, and playing with classmates, friends and family members. Encouraged by the positive feedback, Beckett partnered with his father, who has a background in design, to refine the concept and develop the final game board and cards. The Hagaman Tarver family says that family game nights have always been a staple in their household. They hope Rainforest Rumble encourages families to start their own game night traditions.
“Strategic, fast-paced, and endlessly fun” is how Beckett likes to describe the game. Players are invited to journey into the depths of the rainforest, meeting characters like the rainbow panda and the jungle king. The first player to travel around the board, up their home path and into the middle with an exact roll wins, but be warned… expect the unexpected.
The Hagaman Tarver family has officially launched Rainforest Rumble’s Kickstarter campaign, with a fundraising goal of $18,000 to continue developing the game and bring it to families and toy stores across the country. This is an “all or nothing campaign,” meaning the fundraising goal must be met by March 1, or the campaign will lose all its garnered pledges.
Contributors can make a donation or purchase the game, which comes with the game board, 18 game cards, 4 player pieces, dice and an instruction card.
