Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos Oct 28-29th

On Oct. 28 and 29, the City of Carlsbad’s Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park will feature the sights, sounds and tastes of Dia del los Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates, remembers and honors those who have departed. Then on Oct. 31, enjoy a Mexican classical music concert at the Carlsbad City Library.

Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Hacienda at night adorned with traditional decorations. During a candlelight tour, guests will have the first opportunity to view the ofrendas that will be on display at Leo Carrillo’s historic Hacienda to recognize Leo Carrillo, his wife Edith and his daughter Antoinette’s time at the Ranch. Visit and tour the Hacienda. Participate in Family Open Studio art projects designed for the whole family. Make homemade tortillas and enjoy live performances. Cuarteto Carlos Chavez Celebrates “Day of the Dead”

Known as champions of Mexican classical music, Cuarteto Carlos Chávez (Fabián Lopez, Omar Guevara, Pablo A. Martinez Bourguet, and Alain Durbecq) will pay homage to the Dia de los Muertos celebration with an engaging program of the quartet music of Franz Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, and works by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz. No reservations required.
