Oceanside, CA – Oceanside’s annual Earth Day festivities are back and take place on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Alamosa Park. Come join the Green Oceanside Team and other environmentally focused participants for an event filled with educational booths, activities for kids, music, games, and more! Visitors can meet the Green Oceanside team and connect with local non-profit groups and City organizations all centered around taking action for the environment and community.

At Alamosa Park, guests will experience a fun, family-friendly environment and have the opportunity to learn how to become an environmental steward to preserve and protect our community. While there, play zero waste cornhole, participate in a park cleanup, view the Waste Management mini collection truck, spin the Green O prize wheel, grab fun giveaways like cool stickers and coloring books, and more! The Water Utilities Department will also have a water trailer onsite to provide delicious, locally produced tap water from the City’s drinking water system so bring your reusable water bottle. Supporting organizations including the Library Department, ProduceGood, Buena Vista Audubon Society, Friends of El Corazon, Waste Management, Camp Pendleton, Sierra Club, and others will have booths set up with educational materials and activities.

In partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego, Green Oceanside will also be hosting three sites for the 23rd annual Creek to Bay cleanup, the largest Earth Week cleanup in San Diego County. Locations in Oceanside will have giveaways and cleanup supplies- just be sure to bring a reusable water bottle and sunscreen! Registration will open April 1 at www.cleansd.org.

“The Oceanside Earth Day event is a great way to connect with resources and others who are interested in learning about and taking action for the environment.” says Rosemarie Chora, Water Utilities Division Manager.

There are many Oceanside programs and resources that can help you and your family be more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Residents can schedule a FREE pick of their backyard produce with ProduceGood to benefit local feeding agencies while also preventing food waste. Those with backyard fruit can contact ProduceGood at info@producegood.org. Additionally, Oceanside residents with a low water use landscape are encouraged to enter in the annual

WaterSmart landscape contest. To showcase your landscaping and for a chance to win fun prizes enter the contest at www.landscapecontest.com.
