Oceanside, CA – Earth Month festivities are back in Oceanside and better than ever! The City of Oceanside is proud to host another round of events in honor of Earth Month. Come out and join the Green Oceanside team for various Earth Month activities centered around sustainability and becoming better environmental stewards.

At the Oceanside Sunset Market on April 20, Green Oceanside will host an Earth Day Fun Zone from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Sunset Market is located at the intersection of Pier View Way and Tremont Street. The Earth Day Fun Zone is a great opportunity for families to enjoy games and activities, earn prizes, and learn more about the environment. Come learn about different environmental programs being rolled out in Oceanside, from watershed protection to conserving water, and how to properly recycle and compost. The event will have local partners as well, such as Waste Management with their mini trash truck for kids, Camp Pendleton and its Natural History Animal exhibit, and the Friends of El Corazon. Don’t miss this Earth Day event for all ages!

“Earth Month is a great time to celebrate the many ways the City of Oceanside cares for the environment,” explains Oceanside’s Water Utilities Director Lindsay Leahy. “Everyone is invited to join Green Oceanside at the Night Market. We have a lot lined up to help you take action in your everyday life.”

The fun doesn’t stop there…Join the annual Creek to Bay Cleanup on Saturday April 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. In partnership with I Love a Clean San Diego, Green Oceanside will host multiple cleanup locations along Loma Alta and Buena Vista Creeks. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join these cleanup events. For more information on how to participate, visit www.cleansd.org.

Oceanside residents can get involved all month long by participating in the Earth Month EcoChallenge. Each week, the Green Oceanside team is asking residents to be environmentally friendly by taking one simple, sustainable action. Each weekly challenge will be posted on the @cityoceanside Instagram account. To enter, take a photo of yourself completing each weekly challenge and send your entry to greenoceanside@oceansideca.org, or tag us at @cityoceanside, for a prize!

Additionally, residents can schedule a FREE pick of their unwanted backyard produce with ProduceGood to benefit local feeding agencies while also preventing food waste. Those with backyard bounties can contact ProduceGood at info@producegood.org.
