Carlsbad residents are invited to join the city in celebrating Earth Month in April with events and activities designed to help you reduce your impact on the environment and live more sustainably. Due to COVID-19, several of these events will be virtual via Zoom.

Shred and Recycle It!
April 3
Registration through Waste Management is now closed – event has reached capacity and is no longer accepting reservations.

E-Waste Drop-Off
April 3, 10, 17, 24, 8 a.m. – noon and 12:40 – 4 p.m.
Help divert waste away from the landfill by properly disposing of electronic waste that could be reused, refurbished or recycled. Free with proof of residency.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
April 10, 17, 24, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Please note the April 3 date has been canceled by the facility and will no longer be available).
Drop off household hazardous waste including old motor oil, paint, chemicals, batteries, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs and electronics for free with proof of residency.

10 Ways to Live a Sustainable Life Virtual Workshop

Join ReEarth Consultants and the city for a free virtual workshop, focused on how to put your passion for sustainability into action from the comfort of your own home! Learn practical tips on how reduce disposable waste and make sustainable choices a part of your everyday life.

Virtual Composting Workshop
April 17, 10 a.m. – noon
Register
Join ReEarth Consultants and the city to learn about all the ins and outs of home composting such as what system is best for you, how to manage it successfully and how to use the resulting compost. Come ready to interact and ask questions.

Virtual Lunch & Learns
Grab your lunch and join the city’s Environmental Management Department staff on Zoom for a week-long series to learn about citywide sustainability initiatives.

Creek to Bay Cleanup (close to home!)
April 24, 9 a.m. – noon
Join your friends and neighbors for the annual Creek to Bay Cleanup. Due to COVID-19, pick a cleanup location close to home and sign up your spot beginning April 1.

Earth Month events and programs support the City of Carlsbad’s implemented policies to reduce the amount of waste produced within the city to conserve natural resources, save water and energy, decrease pollution, meet compliance with state and federal regulations, and support the city’s overall sustainability goals.
