VISTA, CA – As families prepare for a new school year, Vista Community Clinic (VCC) is encouraging parents and caregivers to schedule children’s vaccinations now to help avoid the late summer rush and ensure students are ready for the first day of class.
Back-to-school is one of the busiest times of year for pediatric healthcare. Waiting until the final weeks before school starts can make it more difficult to find convenient appointment times, particularly for families whose children need multiple immunizations or are due for annual wellness visits.

California requires students entering childcare, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, seventh grade, and students transferring from another state to meet specific immunization requirements before attending school. VCC clinicians can help families review records and stay up to date with whatever is needed.
These visits are also a great time to also complete annual well-child visits to discuss growth and development, nutrition, mental health, and any concerns before the school year begins. These visits provide an opportunity for healthcare clinicians to answer questions and ensure children are on track and thriving for a healthy year ahead.
