City of Escondido Celebrates the 11th Annual National Small Business Saturday® as an American Express® Neighborhood Champion Escondido, CA The City of Escondido announced today that it has partnered with the Escondido Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association as a member of the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program as part of Small Business Saturday, which takes place on November 28 and all holiday season long. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country.

In order to drive shoppers to Shop Small® this November 28, the City is participating in the American Express ® Neighborhood Champion Program to spotlight what spending local means to small businesses and the community $1 spent local is circulated in the community up to 56 times before leaving the community because local businesses often have strong local supply chains, spend their profits at local places and employ local people.

For example, if you spend $100 at a local small business then the business owner pays their local employees who then spend their wages at local shops. The small business owner also spends some of this $100 at a local supplier for raw goods, then the local supplier pays their local employees’ wages who then spend those wages at local shops Then local businesses spend their profits at the local level.

When you “Shop local, Support local”, dollars s pent local flow through different channels in the economy that help support the community. Let’s “Shop local, support local” every day and especially on Small Business Saturday, November 28.
