The City of Escondido’s Environmental Programs team, Public Works, Escondido Police Department, and the Escondido Police Cadet Post all collaborated to host a site for I Love a Clean San Diego’s 21st Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup, one of the most significant single-day
environmental action events in San Diego County. 35 volunteers attended the event and worked alongside City staff and Cadets to fill a 3-yard dumpster with trash from Reidy Creek. Public Works supported the volunteers by removing nearly 30,000 total pounds of litter and debris from the waterways and preventing the waste from flowing into neighboring communities and, ultimately, the Pacific Ocean.
Thank you to all volunteers and staff who made this event a success! To learn more about how you can keep our local creeks and lakes healthy, visit Escondido.org/environmental-programs.
