Although the City of San Marcos cannot host the beloved Veterans Day Ceremony in person this year, Mayor Rebecca Jones will present a virtual address online on November 11 to honor veterans. Tune in at san-marcos.net/veterans.
In years past, community members, veterans and active duty military have gathered at Helen Bougher Memorial Park to pay tribute to those who’ve served our country. This year, Mayor Jones encourages residents to unite from their homes with actions to honor those who have served or continue to serve.
“Remembering All Who Served” is the theme Mayor Jones encourages all to participate in. Her suggestions include:
Wearing a red poppy to show your support.
Spending two minutes in silence at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, November 11.
Stopping by Helen Bougher Memorial Park at any time to pay tribute to the All Veterans Memorial.
Thanking a veteran by picking up the phone, sending a text or writing a letter to express your gratitude.
Flying your American flag at home.
Visiting one of the many military memorials in San Diego.
