VISTA, CA – The City of Vista announces Chris Mitchell’s promotion to Information Technology Director, effective February 23, 2024. Mitchell has served the City of Vista since February 2005, most recently as Information Technology Manager since 2012. Before that, he worked as the City’s Senior Information Technology Analyst and the Information Technology Analyst. Before arriving at the City of Vista, Mitchell worked as the Systems Administrator for Vista-based Software Direct.
Mitchell will lead the City’s Information Technology Department team and oversee information systems, applications, operating systems, networks, telecommunications, desktop computer support, associated hardware, and web applications.

Having graduated from Vista’s Rancho Buena Vista High School, Mitchell holds a BA in Business IT Management, professional certifications, and is a professional member of the Municipal Information Systems Association of California.
