The City’s Public Works Department is experiencing severe delays and slowdowns in ordering equipment and supplies for damaged playground equipment in city parks. Since the re-opening of parks from the pandemic shutdown, staff is noticing an increase in park users. The parts delays are due to worldwide shipping issues with supply chains. Parts are no longer available on the shelf and must be factory ordered.
Currently, the following parks are pending playground repairs:
South Buena Vista Park: New replacement slide expected in September, 2021; still pending.
Luz Duran Park: replacement slide ordered, waiting for manufacturing and delivery.
Sports Park: replacement slide section, waiting for manufacturing and delivery.
Weekly checks are performed on city playground equipment and when a breakdown or future order is expected, parts are now ordered in advance to reduce the wait time.
