Vista, CA – October 16, 2026 – Comfort and care were on the minds of all who attended the Woman’s Club of Vista’s October meeting. Together, members used needles and thread and created over 25 heart shaped pillows for those who have recently undergone breast cancer surgery. The pillows will be gifted to Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center in Temecula where they will be distributed in their surgery kits given to clients.

Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center is located in Temecula and is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. It is the only local cancer resource center, serving all cancers, for individuals and their families facing a diagnosis in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, and North San Diego County. All services and programs are available to clients at no cost, for anyone in need of comfort, support, and hope.

The heart shaped pillows are designed to provide cushioning for the surgical areas from a seatbelt strap, protection for the healing skin from the rubbing of drainage tubes, and they also serve as a sleep aid. The soft pink pillows bring comfort both physically and
emotionally for patients post-surgery.

The Woman’s Club of Vista President and Civic Engagement and Outreach Chair, Liz Franciscus explains, “This project was a very important one for us. It is quite a challenge to be among a group of women and to not to find someone with a connection to breast cancer and in our case, we have many, very personal connections to this disease. We wanted to find a way to support and bring comfort to those going through this difficult process, as well as share hope with those among us currently being affected and what better time than now, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. ”

The Woman’s Club of Vista has been active for 110 years and is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. To learn more about WCV please visit: thewomansclubofvista.org.
