New Haven
We are proud to highlight New Haven Youth and Family Services, as our COASTAL Commitment partner for this month. Under our COASTAL Commitment, we collaborate with New Haven to provide education and positively impact the behavioral health of at-risk adolescent boys in our community.

New Haven provides professional care, education and treatment for youth and their families with emotional, behavioral and learning challenges. Our partnership with New Haven supports their mission of providing family-focused services that restore hope and dignity to troubled youth and their families.

About New Haven
New Haven services and programs are based on the model of positive youth development. Through providing structure and opportunities, New Haven allows its youth to play an active role in leadership, decision-making, interpersonal competency and self-advocacy. New Haven offers educational and behavioral health programs that equip their students and families with the tools to become independent, self-reliant and hopeful for their future.

Partnership Overview

Tri-City Medical Center supports various career technical education programs where students learn valuable real-world job skills and build confidence. Through our COASTAL Commitment partnership, we have supported the New Haven Woodcraft program which teaches students to learn advanced furniture and cabinetry craftsmanship.

We have also supported New Haven’s Catering4Youth program where students learn industry-based standards around the kitchen, creating job opportunities for students in the hospitality environment. Both programs are student-run and a part of their entrepreneurial leadership curriculum where you can purchase woodcraft products or allow students to cater your next event! Currently, we are supporting the New Havens Life Skills Development program which supports balancing and managing daily life skills. New Haven utilizes the Casey Independent Living Skills assessment tool which assesses and helps students build responsibilities in various skills such as career planning, budgeting, health care, relationship readiness and more. This program aims to equip them with skills and resources to make a successful transition from adolescents to adulthood.
