Friday, May 2nd is the Grand Opening date at 4 P.M. for the newest business in Downtown Historic Vista as Coomber Craft Wines Tasting Room at 344 Main Street, directly across the street from Shakโ€™s Mediterranean Bistro opens their doors. Owner Skip Coomber said he and his wife are excited to open this tasting room in Vista, also owners of the popular Coomber Craft Wines Tasting Room at 611 Mission in downtown Oceanside. The new facility will have a capacity of 99 patrons, using both indoor space and an outside area in the back as well as including a soon to be added outdoor space in the front of the tasting room. A beautiful wooden dรฉcor, large bar area and two sets of lockers on the walls for Wine Club members makes the tasting room feel warm and friendly. Skip said Will Burtner designed the plan for the wine bar.

Skip also said he and Will wanted to create a community where wine lovers find a comfortable setting to try their large selection of wines.

They also want to encourage patrons to share tables and discuss the various wines. Skip and his wife Maureen began their experience in the wine business in 2009 with an investment in a custom crush facility in Bulleton, California. As the facility prepared their wines for bottling, Skip and Maureen would eventually begin to sell their wine to restaurants like Mille Fleur in Rancho Santa Fe and to a variety of markets. They have operated the Oceanside tasting room for 6 years. All of their wines come from grapes in the Napa & Sonoma region.

The wine selection menu for the tasting room includes a Mixed Tasting Flight, a White Tasting Flight and a Red Tasting Flight featuring 6 wines each. There are various Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and other selections, all from the Coomber Craft Wine lists. There are two Wine Club possibilities for those wanting to have a more personal interest in the Coomber Wines. Locker Membership is $25 a month. with a 3-bottle selection initially and one bottle a month required. In addition to wines, Coomber will offer wine-based spirit drinks like their margarita as well as wine-based seltzers. Food menus from Shakโ€™s Mediterranean, Mikkos Sushi and Seven Seas Seafood will be on the tables where guests can call and order from a selection of food from their menu which will be delivered to the guestsโ€™ table. The tasting room also plans on having entertainment Seven Days a week performing on the outdoor stage in the back.

The staff for Coomber Craft Wines will include Skipโ€™s wife Maureen and daughter Caroline occasionally, General Manager Lisa Cody, and six additional staff members. Their hours will be 7 days a week from 4:00 P.M. until 9 P.M. and possibly extending to 10 P.M. during summer months. Coomber Craft Wines Tasting Room become another in the list of establishments coming to Downtown Historic Vista adding to the vibrant downtown area and drawing more people to enjoy a wide variety of options in the Vista dining scene.
