Cougars Break Into Top 25 Coaches Poll at No. 19

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the first time as a member of the NCAA, the Cal State San Marcos men’s soccer team is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll as the Cougars came in at No. 19 on Tuesday morning.

The Cougars matched their best start in program history over the weekend by moving to 6-0 overall after opening up California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play by defeating Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay by scores of 1-0 and 2-1, respectively.

Cal State San Marcos is now one of three CCAA schools ranked in the top 25 as it joins No. 12 Cal State L.A. and No. 23 UC San Diego.

Without a loss to its name, Cal State San Marcos is one of only 16 teams in NCAA Division II with an unblemished win-loss record.

The No. 19 Cougars will have a big top-25 matchup on Friday as they travel down to San Diego to face rival No. 23 UC San Diego in non-conference action at Triton Stadium at 7 p.m.
