Cougars Fall in Double Overtime to No. 9 CSULA on Senior Day

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men’s soccer team held No. 9 Cal State L.A. scoreless for 101 minutes before falling by a golden goal, 1-0, Sunday on Senior Day at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED •CSUSM keeper Tyler Garrard made a diving save to his left to stop Leonardo Nogueira’s shot in the 50th minute.
•On a three-touch play, Bjoershol finished it with a shot to the lower right corner that resulted in a golden goal for CSULA.
QUICK HITS •CSUSM falls to 7-6-2 (3-5-2 CCAA) while the Golden Eagles improve to 11-2-2 (8-1-1 CCAA).
•CSULA took 19 shots, 11 coming in the second half, while the Cougars tallied 10.
•Garrard recorded seven saves in his second start of 2018.
•Prior to today’s game, the Cougars honored their seven seniors – Robbie Dirks, Andrew Stalboerger, Danny Guzman, David Martin, Noah Park, Bryan Morrison and Isaac Swenson – as they competed in their final home game in The Cage.
