THOUGHTS FROM ASSISTANT COACH TIFFANY JOH
“I am so proud of the team. We struggled for a bit yesterday coming out of the gate. Before we played today, we talked about what the word ‘grit’ meant to each of us. I saw so much of that out there today. I think this event was just a harbinger of what’s to come for this team. They’re young, but they’re just going to get better as the year goes on.”

INSIDE THE SCORECARD
CSUSM led the field in Par-5 scoring, finishing 4-over (5.10).
The Cougars tallied a tournament-high 28 birdies with Biola coming in second with 21.
Carbardo, along with ART U’s Anahi Servin, tallied a 36-round-high eight birdies.
Only two of Cougars in the field were on the squad in 2019-20 when CSUSM last competed in a tournament.
With the men’s team win in the Sonoma State Invitational, this marks the first time in school history that both teams opened the season with a tournament win.

UP NEXT
In two weeks, the Cougars will compete in the RJGA Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona on Sept. 27-28.
